About Andrea Warnick


Andrea is a Registered Psychotherapist, Registered Nurse, and thanatologist with over 20 years of experience supporting grieving children and families and communities. Her caring and unique approach to dying, death, grief and healing has helped thousands of people, from toddlers to the elderly, across North America and internationally. Recognizing the provision of support for grieving children and youth as a social justice issue, Andrea brings the topics of dying, death, and grief into the necessary realm of discussion, education, and advocacy.

Andrea’s education includes:

  • Bachelor of Nursing Sciences Degree, Dalhousie University
  • Master of Arts in Thanatology (dying, death, and bereavement), Hood College
  • Certificates in Narrative Therapy and Trauma Counselling

Andrea’s work experience (domestic & international) includes:

  • Grief counselling at the Dr. Jay Children’s Grief Centre  in Toronto
  • Program development — seminars, customized in-services and workshops on a wide variety of topics related to palliative care, death, grief, and children
  • Directing Camp Erin Toronto, a bereavement camp for children and youth
  • Keynote presenter at palliative care and oncology conferences
  • Disaster relief in Sri Lanka following the 2004 Indian Ocean Tsunami
  • Media spokesperson
  • Published author of academic journal articles
  • Founder of successful not-for-profit initiatives: Tsunami Tender Sprout Home Initiative and Balding for Dollars in Toronto and Vancouver.
